Reimer was born in Germany, where he taught English and history before he immigrated with Sarah and their two oldest daughters to the US. After learning basic culinary skills in several Charlottesville restaurants in the early eighties, he was the executive chef at the Massanutten ski resort in the late eighties. During the nineties, he joined Sarah in their catering business, which she had started in 1985. In 2000, he resumed teaching – German and history this time – at Western Albemarle Highschool. After his retirement in 2019, he joined Sarah to help run Bliss Point Farm.
