EVIE SAFRAN.

…a treasure of healthful cooking in Charlottesville for over 30 years.

Evie Safran has been cooking and catering since the 1980’s.  Remember “Lena’s Dance Restaurant” on Elliewood Ave. in Charlottesville?  Her first gig!  Evie went on to work at several local restaurants and catered festivals, weddings, bar mitzvahs, and social issue events with Sarah Lanzman for 30 years.  Evie also cooked at “Ligmincha Institute”, a BuddhistRetreat Center in Nelson County, summers and holidays for 13 years.In 1990, Evie returned to college and earned a B.A. in English and Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Education.  She taught in the Charlottesville City Schools from 1995 until her retirement in 2010.  She continued to work part-timein CCS for three more years, mentoring and tutoring and recently, at a local private school.  She also continues to do catering, personal chef services as well as cooking breakfast and helping with fund-raisers at The Haven, a day shelter for the homeless in downtown Charlottesville.
